Aim
  • The student will be given knowledge of some common routing protocols such as RIP, OSPF and BGP, their functions and applications as well as their implementation and management in network equipment. The student will also be given knowledge of how different types of computer networks are designed and how this design has been implemented. The student should be able to handle the network equipment operating system and understand its command structure.
Contents
  • The course deals with the three routing protocols RIP, OSPF and BGP. In particular, these protocols are compared to different faults. The network equipment used is manufactured by Cisco, why Cisco OS IOS is also included in the course.
Knowledge and Understanding
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • After completion of the course, the student must have gained insight into the process of designing, implementing and deploying computer networks of different categories, as well as understanding of the interaction between active equipment in these networks. The student should also understand the practical elements required for the operation and maintenance of computer networks by manually configuring and managing a small computer network.
Competences and Skills
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • The student should be able to configure network equipment in different configurations. This requires that the student can obtain and interpret handling descriptions in the network equipment manuals and manuals. The student should be able to use the network equipment operating system and its configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting features.

Admission Requirements
Assumed Prior Knowledge
  • To follow the course, knowledge is required corresponding to EITF45 Computer Communication. Students who have passed an approved result on the Routing Project in any of the courses ETSF05 or ETSF10 Internet protocols can not count more than 3 credits.
