Syfte
  • The student shall be able to use the graphical programming environment of Labview to acquire, transmit and visualize digital and analog signals relevant to the student’s research field.
Innehåll
  • Lectures and introduction to the Labview programming environment. Each work task will be started with an introductory meeting to the task, each task will then be followed by two seminars for follow up and examination. Group work and individual work.

  • Show understanding of the labview datatypes, local and global variables.
    Show understanding of the principles behind constructing a functioning Labview program.
Färdighet och förmåga
  • För godkänd kurs skall doktoranden
  • Construct a Labview program suitable to either send or receive digital or analog signals.
    Measure a signal pulse for height (V) and duration (ns) to determine if the signal can be measured “as is” by a NI DAQ card.
    Visualize signals in the Labview interface and program the signal to be logged with an appropriate time label.

  • Be able to use appropriate datatypes, variables and programming tools to measure and log a datasignal.
    Be able to discuss alternative solutions for a specific problem including Labview.
    Be able to evaluate and discuss a problem including Labview and data acquisition.

  • Work form
    The work will be part individual and part in group seminars and discussions. The work will be divided into separate modules to be reported individually to the examiner. Each module will be started by a joint discussion where the aims are presented and discussed; a time for a second seminar will also be set at this introductory meeting. At the second seminar each of the participants will share their progress and experience during the course of work. After the second seminar the module will be completed and handed in for review to the course examiner.
    Modules (Further information will be given at the introductory seminar of each module):
    1. Introduction. Datatypes and variables, program a “randomizer” program. (2ECTS)
    2. Analog input using DAQ hardware. Setup a variable in the Labview program for the input of a suitable analog data signal, log the signal and visualize (1,5 HP).
    3. Analog output using DAQ hardware (1,5 HP).
    4. Using the counter function on the DAQ with Labview (1,5 HP).
    5. Digital input/output signals using the DAQ (1,5 HP).
Examinationsformer
  • Inlämningsuppgifter
  • The student will be graded with pass (G) or non-pass (IG).
    For a course pass the student must have been examined and received a pass for each of the course modules. A pass is received when the module is handed in to the examiner after (or during) the second module seminar. If the student is not passed, a revised version must be submitted to the examiner.

  • Accepted phd students at LTH, LU working with aerosols and thermal environment will be given precedence. Otherwise all applicants will be considered that are accepted as phd students at LTH/LU or other affiliation.
