Aim
  • To highlight the consequences of improbity in research.
Contents
  • 1. The content of the book will be discussed at two seminar occasions. The book covers ethical issues, exemplified in detail, from fraud, plagiarism, stole ideas, through collegial protection.
    2. Discussion of a number of ethical issues and case studies, for instance:
    • highlighting of concepts such as "retracted",
    • some ethical quiz, handed out, true or not,
    • recent cases of fraud, some famous cases,
    • soft science versus hard science,
    • individual task, search on the web, and
    • the Central Ethical Review Board
Knowledge and Understanding
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • be able to describe the ethical pit falls for a research project, from idea to publication.
Competences and Skills
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • be able to independently identify the discrepancy of right and wrong in his/her own and others research projects.
Judgement and Approach
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • be familiar with the ethical dilemmata within the research society.
