Aim

The intention is give an overview of basic models that describe how chemical reactions enhance the transfer of gaseous species from a gas bulk into a liquid.

For a passing grade the doctoral student must be able to execute an experimental plan for retrieving design data for an absorption problem.

Course Contents

Diffusion and solubility of gases in liquids, lab equipment for experimental studies, absorption models for different types of chemical reactions, characteristics of absorption equipment, example of absorption reactions, desorption of gases from liquids, hydrodynamics of packed towers such as flooding and wetting.
