Valid from: Spring 2020
Decided by: Margareta Sandahl
Date of establishment: 2020-05-13
Division: Chemical Engineering
Course type: Third-cycle course
Teaching languages: English, Swedish
The course gives a detailed view of the adsorption phenomenon of gases and liquids on solid materials.
Knowledge and Understanding
For a passing grade the doctoral student must be able to reproduce the theory and methods for adsorption in the studied literature and partake in a discussion with peers on the application of the course literature in the student's research.
Competences and Skills
For a passing grade the doctoral student must have a good knowledge of the adsorption phenomenon and be able to solve real-life problems in adsorption based on the literature of the course.
Judgement and Approach
For a passing grade the doctoral student must independently be able to assess which factors that affect adsorbent investigations in the student's research and how these can be scaled to be used on an industrial scale.
The course will cover adsorption equilibria, kinetics and measurement techniques as well as the industrial implementation of the phenomenon.
Types of instruction: Lectures, seminars
Examination format: Seminars given by participants
Grading scale: Failed, pass
Examiner:
Assumed prior knowledge: Basic knowledge in catalysis and/or adsorption.
Selection criteria: The course will be given when enough students have expressed interest, a minimum of 3 students is required.
When 3 students have expressed interest in taking the course, it will be given within 3-6 months. The ambition is to give the course at least biannually.
