Protein microarrays represents a novel technology for multiplexed, high-throughput protein expression profiling of crude biological samples, such as blood, cell lysates and tissue extracts. In this one-week full-time hands-on course, you will learn about the theory and practical work behind state-of-the-art protein microarray technologies in proteomics.

The course will present the fundamentals behind designing, producing, running and analysing protein microarrays for protein expression profiling. Theories behind all the different steps are discussed and experiments (exercises) are performed. The principles behind generating numerous probes using combinatorial biology will be presented. A variety of array designs and formats, in both the micro- and nano-scale dimensions, will be covered. Present and future applications will be discussed. The practical work will be illustrated by producing, running and analysing antibody microarrays, including data handling and bioinformatics.
