Aim
  • To give students the opportunity to demonstrate and document their teaching and advising abilities and experience in supporting the learning of others. It can been seen as a practical complement to course GEM002F/GB_A02 “Introduction to Teaching and Learning in Higher Education”.
Contents
  • The content is advising of diploma workers and comparable situations and participation in practicals or other course-bound teachings.
Knowledge and Understanding
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • Apply fundamental concepts of teaching and learning in their pedagogic practice.
    Understand how learning is supported in higher education.
Competences and Skills
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • Reflect on common aspects of education (such as forms of teaching, examination, evaluation, teaching qualifications etc.) on the basis of reading and experience.
    Analyse, and discuss their teaching practice and experience in their role of supporting the learning of others.
Judgement and Approach
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • Apply a student perspective in all teaching situations.
    Demonstrate willingness to engage in collegial discussions on teaching.

  • Participate in teaching and advising parts of courses to such an extent that broad experience is obtained.
Examination Formats

  • A self-reflection shall be presented of one cycle of advising and one practical or other course activity. The self-reflection can be based on the course GEM002F or the literature.
  • Failed, pass
Admission Requirements
  • PhD student, to finalize the course the student should qualify for advising of diploma works (have achieved 120 HEC of the PhD education).

  • Priority is given to students that have the course as mandatory in their study plans.
