The aim of the course is to increase knowledge and reflection in the area of specialization of the PhD student.

The course consists of sub-blocks, each of which focuses on a research paper in the doctoral student's topic of specialization. For each sub-block, the following shall be met:

1. Literature search to select an appropriate scientific article.
2. The student reads and analyzes the article and write a report consisting of a) short summary, and b) critical evaluation. A number of questions are to be answered regarding methodology etc.
3. The student discusses the article in the group together with a course leader or supervisor.

When all steps are performed for one sub-block, the student receives 0.5 credits.

demonstrate intellectual independence in assessment of others' research
demonstrate an understanding of the limitations and merits of the evaluated research
reflect on the value and benefits of the research conducted within their own area of specialization

Scientific articles in the area of specialization for the PhD student.

The course can give a maximum of 7.5 credits and is ongoing continuously during the postgraduate studies.
