The aim of the course is to discuss, critically examine, compare various knowledge perspectives relevant to the transition into low carbon and resource efficient economies (LCREE), and present the acquired knowledge both orally and in writing. Course participants will get instructions and work individually during the week and be examined at the end of each week. The participants will read and discuss key texts in an in-depth way during in-class activities and analyse them in even more detail during a written exam. The participants will be given ample opportunities for reflection and discussion of perspectives, theories and concepts and relate these to their own research.

Lectures will give an overview of research in relation to the specific themes (sustainable consumption, sustainable business management and practice, sustainable urban governance and policy analysis) and discuss ongoing research in relation to each theme. In workshops and seminars, PhD students reconsider or defend contested issues in their own written or orally presented assignments and comment on each other’s work. Workshops and seminars include addressing the specific themes being discussed that week.
The reading consists of mandatory readings and students’ own manuscripts as well as additional literature related to the themes addressed.

Admission requirements: The course is given as part of the PhD education at the IIIEE, and is open for PhD candidates outside IIIEE if space permits.

Minimum number of participants: 4
Selection criteria: Priority will be given to IIIEE students, then to students in the Graduate School Agenda 2030 and if there is room to other PhD students. PhD students outside IIIEE, LTH and the Graduate School Agenda 2030 must pay a fee of 10 000 SEK.
