The summer course aims to enhance the participants’ knowledge in the field of heat transfer and reactive flows applied to industrial environments. As a PhD student, you will have the opportunity to get to know the vision and challenges in technologies, explore the new knowledge and subjects, and build valuable relationships in your research field.

The one-week summer school consists of lectures on topics of fundamental heat transfer and reactive flows, experimental techniques and demonstration, guest lectures from industrial experts, and study visit to Alfa Laval and Tetra Pak, respectively.

To pass the course the PhD student should
– show understanding of fundamental heat transfer and reactive flows, relevant for the analyses included in the PhD student’s research.

To pass the course the PhD student should
– independently be able to select suitible methods needed in the PhD student’s research.

To pass the course the PhD student should
– show a critical approach to modeling result and consider both potential error sources and systematic errors in sample selections made by the PhD student and by other course participants.

A successful completion of this course will be judged on the following:
• Course attendance (at least 80%): 1.5 credits
• Written report: A project will be assigned to PhD students, and a written report is submitted, 1.5 credits.
