Aim
  • The course aims to present a deeper understanding of the close couplings (”nexus”) between water, energy and food, globally as well as locally.

Knowledge and Understanding
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • demonstrate the ability to understand the connections water, food and energy production in both a local and global perspective,
    demonstrate the ability to understand how climate change affects water resources and the society
    demonstrate the ability to understand pros and cons of different energy sourses
Competences and Skills
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • demonstrate the ability to identify, formulate and handle complex issues of the topic from a holistic perspective and in a critical, autonomous and creative manner,
    demonstrate the ability to, in a scientific way, formulate the complex interconnections between water, food and energy production, both orally and in a written report
Judgement and Approach
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • demonstrate the ability to argue for and against different water allocation strategies,
    be able to critically review studies and reports dealing with allocation of water resources

  • Seminars given by participants
  • The exam is a take-home exam given after the first half of the course. The students will also write a report on a given specific topic. This will be presented and discussed during the second halt of the course.

  • Masters degree or equivalent

Selection Criteria
  • Members of the water research school will be given priority.
