Aim
  • The course aims
    - To provide general knowledge of current research in the field of environmental psychology and related fields of research.
    - To provide in-depth knowledge from previous environmental psychological research relevant to the student's doctoral work.
    - To strengthen the doctoral student's understanding of the relationship between their doctoral work and other environmental psychology research.
Contents
  • The course includes two parts: the seminar series and a reading course. Current research in environmental psychology and related fields is presented by invited or participating students and discussed in seminars. The student chooses the basis of the literature list and in consultation with the examiner literature on approximately 1000 pages for self-study.
    The student should
    - attend at least five seminars.
    - be responsible for a seminar by presenting own research alternatively a theoretical and methodological overview in relation to the relevant scope.
    - exam 1000 pages of literature chosen in collaboration with the examiner from either the Environmental Psychology reading list or according to the student's own preferences.
Knowledge and Understanding
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • - demonstrate an understanding of other researchers' studies in terms of theoretical foundations, methods and results.
    - demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the student's doctoral work and (other) environmental psychology research.
    - show a general over-view understanding of research in environmental psychology research field.
    - demonstrate a thorough knowledge of one or more aspects of environmental psychology research that is relevant to the student's doctoral work.
Competences and Skills
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • - Be able to discuss others and own research from a scientific approach in an academic setting.
    - Be able to present their own research or research in an interdisciplinary context with a well-defined theoretical basis.
    - Be able to describe published research within environmental psychology from established theories and concepts.
Judgement and Approach
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • - Reflect on own and others' research on the basis of environmental psychology fundamental concepts.
    - Be able to critically examine and weigh research results from published environmental psychology studies.
