  • The course is a optional addition to "Fundamentals of Information Theory", in which additional knowledge is gained by means of an individual project.
  • Within the project each student selects a topic for additional self-studies (book chapter or publications)
Knowledge and Understanding
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • be well familiar with standard information theoretic concepts
    understand how to generalize the concepts and proofs to a self-selected scenario
Competences and Skills
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • have demonstrated the ability to independently acquire expert knowledge within a self-selected sub-area and present it to peers
Judgement and Approach
  • For a passing grade the doctoral student must
  • have demonstrated the ability to independently extract the important content of an extensive document, such as a textbook or a scientific publication

  • The project course should be done in close connection with the course "Fundamentals of Information Theory"

  • A presentation about the project is given to all participants.
