Electromechanic actuators are getting increasingly more common in industry products and productions systems. Skills in the design and integration of such are thus important. The purpose of this course is to provide such skills.

For a passing grade the doctoral student must be able to discuss and evaluate the properties of an electric actuator design in a certain application with the application design engineer.
Lectures: Windings, current density, torque production and losses. Optimisation, torque quality, reluctance net models, FEM analysis. Project: Design of an electrical machine with the use of a FEM design programme.
