Develop the PhD candidate's experience of numerical methods so that these can be used as an aid within the PhD students own research work.
Knowledge and Understanding
For a passing grade the doctoral student must understand how to use numerical methods in Matlab.
Competences and Skills
For a passing grade the doctoral student must be able use required numerical methods in her/his own reserch work.
Judgement and Approach
For a passing grade the doctoral student must be able to identify and select appropriate numerical methods required for a research project.
Application of numerical methods utilizing Matlab such as initial value problems,boundary value problems, stochastic simulation, eigenvalue analysis, parameter estimation and regression analysis.
