Aim

To give an introduction to fracture mechnics

Goals

Knowledge and Understanding

For a passing grade the doctoral student must show basic knowledge about theory and various applications of linear elastic fracture mechanics, and some knowledge about various non-linear fracture mechanics models and their applications.

Competences and Skills

For a passing grade the doctoral student must

Judgement and Approach

For a passing grade the doctoral student must be able to assess fractures properties for different materials and structures, based on rational thinking in terms of basics from strength of materials, mechanics and physics.

According to the book "Introduction to fracture mechanics" by Kåre Hellan and additions relating to applications to building materials and numerical calcultations
