To give an introduction to fracture mechnics
Knowledge and Understanding
For a passing grade the doctoral student must show basic knowledge about theory and various applications of linear elastic fracture mechanics, and some knowledge about various non-linear fracture mechanics models and their applications.

For a passing grade the doctoral student must be able to assess fractures properties for different materials and structures, based on rational thinking in terms of basics from strength of materials, mechanics and physics.
